Matty Dalrymple offers practical, encouraging programs for people who want to continue learning, share their knowledge, pursue creative or professional opportunities, and make a meaningful impact in their next chapter.
Programs are designed for lifelong-learning organizations, community groups, libraries, continuing-education programs, and organizations serving adults exploring second-act careers, creative ventures, entrepreneurship, and purposeful engagement.
Share What You Know: How to Make an Impact as a Podcast Guest
You have professional expertise, creative work, a cause, or a second-act venture you want more people to know about. Appearing as a guest on podcasts can help you reach the right audiences, build visibility, and form meaningful connections with people who care about the same subjects you do.
In this practical and encouraging presentation, author, podcast host, and frequent podcast guest Matty Dalrymple guides participants through the entire podcast guesting journey. Attendees will learn how to shape their subject into compelling interview topics, find podcasts that are a good match for their goals, and approach hosts with a thoughtful and relevant pitch.
The session will also cover how to prepare for an interview, which basic technology and environmental components are needed, how to participate in a confident and engaging conversation, and how to extend the value of an appearance after it airs.
No previous podcasting experience or advanced technical knowledge is required.
Participants will learn how to:
Shape a broad subject, project, or cause into focused topics that will interest podcast hosts and their audiences.
Clarify whom they want to reach and what they want listeners to understand, remember, or do.
Find and evaluate active podcasts based on topic, audience, style, fit, and quality.
Approach podcast hosts with a concise, personalized, audience-focused pitch.
Prepare talking points and stories, along with the basic technology and setting needed for a remote interview.
Participate confidently in a useful, engaging conversation without sounding scripted.
